Ashley Furniture HomeStore, the Mattress and Furniture retailer in North America, has an immediate opening for a Furniture Repair Technician.   • Inspect of all assembled products in the run lane for delivery and assess if products can be repaired or must be replaced.
  • Restore product to like-new conditions using proven techniques, including refinishing, re-upholstery, painting, etc.
  • Repair damaged stock, wood, fabric, leather, and metal furniture using approved methods.
  • Understand and follow all safe work practices and rules, including WHMIS.
  • Answer guests' questions during in-home repairs.
  • Document and complete service reports and paperwork, including inventory control information.
  • Completion of electronic paperwork within our software platform
  • Communicate any issues (mechanical or otherwise) on the service vehicles.
  • Attend training on furniture repair topics.
  • Inspect and validate the repair parts.
  • Understand, follow, and ensure compliance with all safe work practices and rules.
  • Assure compliance with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate the company's values in all aspects of their work performance.
  • Participate in our National Certification program.

    • High School diploma with two years of practical work experience in furniture repair, including upholstery, leather repairs, and wood refinishing.
    • Combination of education and experience will be considered.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to present clean, organized, and thorough information and data appropriate for intended audience.
    • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
    • Driver's License Required.
    • A satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required.
    • Some exposure to solvents. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
      • Able to lift at least 50 - 100 pounds.
      • Able to conduct physical work in warm and cold conditions
      • Operates various equipment and tools
      • Must have close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability toadjust focus to read reports, view computer screen, etc.
      • Must be able to hear and understand speech to interact with others.
      • Must be able to speak so that others will be able to understand.
      • Must be able to perform repetitive tasks with both hands to include keyboarding,handwriting, office/POS equipment and handheld equipment operation.
      • Will remain on one's feet in an upright position and move about on foot.
      • Will bend, squat, stoop, kneel, crouch and reach at or aboveshoulder level.
      • Will lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds and more with assistance.
      • Will work predominately in a warehouse environment; occasional work atnew retail locations under construction. Potential exposure to oil, latex, and spray paint, household chemicals,biological odors and household dusts; moderate office noise.
      • Understand and maintain all safe work practices and rules.
